    External controlled preservative

External control preservatives are a technical means of extending the shelf life of food by adjusting the internal environment of the packaging. They are not directly added to food ingredients, but are added to packaging materials or containers using physical, chemical, or biological means to inhibit microbial growth and extend shelf life.
